Tandoori Times

Flip through the gorgeous gold and purple menu – written up by the owners themselves – and prepare for an Indian gastronomical adventure. There are seafood specialties from Goa, hot Hyderabad curries and fresh, fluffy naan breads. Of course, there’s also the house specialty– tandoori – where fish and an array of meats are brushed with a bright red paste containing a variety of spices included garam masala, cumin and chilli, grilled over glowing charcoals and served with refreshing minted yoghurt – yum! Then afterwards, make sure to order dessert –your taste buds will thank you.

By all means stick to the familiar and try the mango sorbet – it’s anything but ordinary. Made with juicy, fresh mangos, each spoonful tastes like you’re eating the firm flesh of the fruit itself, except for the pleasant crunch of ice crystals.  But if you’re brave and order the Gulab Jamun, prepare to be rewarded. This is a very popular Indian dessert made of double-cream milk solids, rolled into little blobs and deep-fried. The resulting golden-brown balls are then dipped in sugary syrup flavoured with fragrant rosewater. Done well, they’re delicious and Tandoori Times gets a ten out of ten. Every morsel melts in the mouth, dissolving in sweet goodness, and when you’re done eating, you’ll float out the door chanting the mantra that adorns every wall in the restaurant – Ommmmm.
