After a light lunch – say, the smoked salmon stack, or a chunky Caesar salad – the "Infamous Tiramisu", served in a large glass and topped with a plump halved strawberry, goes down delightfully on a sunny afternoon. Made of layers of light but fragrant mascarpone cheese, and soft, espresso and liquor-soaked savoiardi,* spoonful after spoonful will literally melt in your mouth. And instead of the usual cocoa dusting on top, Stuzzi’s version has little bittersweet chocolate bits that really add bliss to their tiramisu. This is a light, delicate dessert with a real kick and you’ve got to try it.
*Savoiardi are better known in English as “lady finger” biscuits, because of their longish, plump shape. Made of sponge, they absorb liquid very quickly - in the case of tiramisu, liquids such as brandy and espresso – and become soft in texture.
