If you're looking for a long, leisurely meal of pancakes, head to Stokers Coffee and Pancake Lounge in Ivanhoe. It's decked out and lit like a country tavern, but without a permit, dry as dust so don't expect to be able to get a stiff drink. Another note of warning - be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes for your order, so make sure you're bringing along good company. As to whether this place is worth waiting for, the answer would be yes, especially if you suddenly develop a late-night craving for pancakes - because Stokers is open until 2am. And whatever time of day, they've got a wide variety of pancakes on the menu, from the traditional maple syrup and butter combo to hearty cheese and chicken filled. Best to go with the traditional and although your coffee may have gone cold from the wait, the piping hot, buttery pancake goes down a treat. Choose ice-cream to complement your hotcake (the other option is cream) - cold, milky vanilla works wonders soothing your throat when you're trying to swallow hot butter and maple syrup. Besides the food, everything else here is also done the old-fashioned way - the bill is written up by hand - so be prepared to wait again and you'll leave feeling like you've gotten to know your eating companions very well.
